The course of surface treatment of materials allows students of 3rd year
engineering materials graduate to know in detail the different surface treatments
(techniques, application, objectives, application conditions, domains,
advantages, comparisons between techniques) applied to metal materials , in
order to improve their functional properties (corrosion resistance, wear
resistance , improved hardness, etc.) and to modify the appearance of the surface
of the materials, in order to adapt it to given conditions of use .
The main aims of this lesson, is at the end of the surface treatments of material course, students will be able to:
✓ Understand the process flow of different surface treatments of materials.
✓ Know the benefits and different ways of surface treatment of materials.
✓ Establish an experimental surface treatment process.
✓ Choose the appropriate surface treatment, its parameters and
operating mode according to the requirements of the industry.
